The Barber Shop Owner or Area Renter License lets you own, control or run a barber shop. The New York State Department of State (NYSDOS) gives out these licenses.

A Barber Shop Area Renter is a licensed barber who works in a barber shop but does not work for the owner. Barbers also need a Barber Apprentice License or Master Barber License.
