Vehicle License Requirements Checklist

The New Vehicle Application is $550.

License renewal payments can be made online via the LARS (License Applications, Renewals and Summonses) System.

All other vehicle types licensed by the Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC), including For Hire Vehicles, Commuter Vans, and Paratransit Vehicles, need other individual operating licenses. For additional information about TLC requirements, visit the TLC website, or one of the TLC Licensing Centers.

All required documents listed must be submitted, along with a completed application form, available at the link above. Submit applications at either the Long Island City or Staten Island License Facilities. Visits to the Staten Island facility are by appointment, only. Please visit the TLC Locations listed below, for a list of the Taxi and Limousine Commissions' locations, phone numbers and office hours.

The applicant must follow all requirements to complete the application within four months from the time it is submitted.

Fees must be submitted along with the application form. All fees are non-refundable.

The license application, required documents, and fees must be filed in person at a TLC Licensing center from Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.
