Host a Cannabis Showcase Event in New York City
Cannabis Showcase Events (CSEs) are temporary events authorized by the NYS Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) that allow licensed cannabis businesses to showcase and sell adult-use cannabis products outside of their licensed premises, in accordance with State regulations.

Cannabis NYC, housed within the NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS), manages the municipal authorization process for CSEs proposed to take place in New York City.
Before a Cannabis Showcase Event (CSE) permit can be issued by the NYS Office of Cannabis Management (OCM), applicants seeking to host an event in New York City must obtain municipal authorization from Cannabis NYC.
To begin the process, complete the Cannabis NYC Municipal Authorization Intake Form.
Cannabis NYC aims to provide a determination within 10 business days or sooner following receipt of a completed intake form.
What Happens Next?
- Cannabis NYC reviews your request. Cannabis NYC will conduct the City's municipal review of the proposed CSE.
- Receive municipal authorization. If approved, you will receive a completed OCM Municipal Approval Form and NYC Municipal Authorization Letter.
- Submit to OCM. Applicants are responsible for submitting the required materials to OCM for final review and authorization of the CSE permit.
Please note that NYC municipal authorization does not constitute final authorization to host a Cannabis Showcase Event. OCM is responsible for final review and issuance of CSE permits.
After OCM Approval
Once NYS Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) issues final authorization for your Cannabis Showcase Event (CSE):
- Submit a copy of the final OCM authorization to cannabis@sbs.nyc.gov prior to the event.
- Display the signed NYC Municipal Authorization Letter at the event premises.
Additional City Requirements
Depending on the location and activities associated with your proposed event, additional City permits, approvals, or requirements may apply.
Cannabis NYC will provide approved applicants with a City Resources & Regulatory Navigation Guide identifying potential City permitting considerations and relevant government resources. Applicants are responsible for determining and obtaining all permits and approvals required for their event.
