A commuter van is a vehicle that can seat 9 to 20 people. The NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) gives licenses to these vans. They can carry passengers for-hire in an Authorized Commuter Van Service.

License renewal payments: You can pay to renew your license online. Use the LARS (License Applications, Renewals and Summonses) system.

Other license types: The Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) gives out other types of licenses. Each type has its own rules. For more information, visit the NYC Business Express Index. You can also visit a TLC Licensing Center in person.

Submit all required documents:
- Complete the application form at the link above.
- Submit applications at the Long Island City or Staten Island License facilities.
- Visits to the Staten Island facility are by appointment only.

Submit fees with the application form: All fees are nonrefundable.

File the license application, required documents and fees in person:
- You can do this from Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
