Certificate of Registration for Expeditor (Filing Processor) Principal (R-01)
The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) requires a Certificate of Registration for Expeditor (Filing Processor) Principal (R-01).
- You must have this certificate to submit, file, request, negotiate or seek approval for permits or other approvals.
- This includes design and installation documents.
- This certificate is only valid for the person to whom it is issued.

Applicants must apply online and provide the following information:
- Your name, mailing address, phone number, email address, gender, Social Security number, date of birth, weight, height and work location
- A completed and signed application form
- A copy of your resume showing at least five years of work experience
- A copy of your employee ID
- A recent ID photo (2x2 color headshot) in JPG or JPEG format
- If your application is complete, the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) will send your certificate to your mailing address within five business days.
- If your application is not complete, FDNY will let you know. You will have 30 days to send in your application again without paying extra.
- If you wait more than 30 days, you will need to send a new application and pay the fee again.

Renewal: You need to renew this certificate every two years.

The NYC Fire Department (FDNY) will send a Renewal Notice 90 days before the certificate expires

This letter will have the certificate number, expiration date and the renewal fee

You must renew the certificate within 364 days of the expiration date

If your certificate is more than one year past the expiration date, you will need to apply again

To change your mailing address, submit the following in person or by mail to the NYC Fire Department (FDNY), Cashier's Unit, 9 MetroTech Center, Brooklyn, NY 11201:
- A letter requesting the change of mailing address
- A copy of your certificate with the old address
- A personal check or money order for $5.00 made payable to the New York City Fire Department

To request a replacement certificate, submit the following in person or by mail to the NYC Fire Department (FDNY), Cashier's Unit, 9 MetroTech Center, Brooklyn, NY 11201:
- A government-issued photo ID (such as a driver's license or passport). The name on the ID must match the name on the certificate
- Your Social Security number
- Your mailing address
- A personal check or money order for $5.00 made payable to the New York City Fire Department
Pay the application fee: The fee is $210. You can pay by:

- A 2 percent convenience fee applies to all credit card payments

If you do not have your Renewal Notice, your Access ID is your 8-digit Certificate of Fitness number and the last four digits of your SSN.
