The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) offers a Paramedic certificate, also called the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT-P) certificate. It is the highest level of certification for pre-hospital emergency care.

Certification requirements

To get this certificate, you must:

Complete the required education
Pass an exam
Have skills from EMT-Basic and EMT-Intermediate certificates
Show you can do advanced heart life support and basic trauma life support, according to national standards
Know how to use a defibrillator
Know how to give drugs and fluids through intravenous (IV) methods
