Nail Specialty License

A Nail Specialty License lets you work on nail appearance. You get this license from the New York State Department of State (NYSDOS).

Who needs this license?

• You need this license if you want to work on nails.
• Your business will need a separate license for beauty services.

How to get the license

• You must pass a test to get the license.
• You can get a temporary license while you wait for the test.
• If you have five years of experience or a license from another state, you do not need to take the test.

New regulations are in place to protect workers.
