Physical therapists need a license to practice in New York State. The Physical Therapist Professional License is issued by the New York State Department of Education (NYSDOE).

Applicants must meet examination and education requirements. Applicants who have not yet taken the exam can apply for a limited permit. This permit allows someone to practice under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
