If you rent cold storage space for food, you need a license. This license is from the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets.
License requirements:
- The license is for places that keep food below 45 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 days or more.
- Items stored must have lot codes.
- You cannot store items for more than two years without special approval.
- Produce-only places pay a lower license fee.
