Required Posters and Signs for Restaurants

City, State and federal rules say businesses must post certain signs. Use the NYC Checklist for Required Signs for Restaurants and Bars to find the signs you need.

Required Signs

• No smoking signs: These are needed for all indoor public places by the NYC Smoke-Free Air Act.
• Recycling signs: All businesses in New York City must recycle. They need to post signs that tell workers and customers what and how to recycle.
• Bicycle safety signs: The New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) says all businesses that deliver by bike must post a sign about bike safety rules.
