City, State and federal rules say businesses must post certain signs. Use the NYC Checklist for Required Signs for Restaurants and Bars to find the signs you need.
Required Signs
- No smoking signs: These are needed for all indoor public places by the NYC Smoke-Free Air Act.
- Recycling signs: All businesses in New York City must recycle. They need to post signs that tell workers and customers what and how to recycle.
- Bicycle safety signs: The New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) says all businesses that deliver by bike must post a sign about bike safety rules.
