You need a license to work as a respiratory therapist in New York State. The New York State Education Department (NYSED) gives this license.
To get this license, you need to:
- Finish school and get experience
- Pass a test
If you have not passed the test yet, you can get a limited permit. This permit lets you work with a licensed therapist or doctor. You must pass tests from the National Board for Respiratory Care.
