Smoke Free Air Act Exemption Registration - Membership Organizations

Membership organizations that want to be exempt from the 2002 Smoke Free Air Act must apply to register with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH).

• Approved registration: This lets the membership association allow smoking. Smoking is only allowed in the areas the association controls.
• The registration is not transferable: It does not cover any other person, association, organization or other entity that may own, lease or be authorized to use the same premises. It only covers the association that applied.
• Upon renewal: The group must still meet the rules for a membership association as defined in the Administrative Code.
