Ticket Seller Business License
You need a Ticket Seller Business license to sell, give or transfer any ticket to a person or company for them to sell in a public space. The New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) gives out this license.
You do not need this license if you are:
- A place of entertainment
- A mode of transportation
- A guided tour

Business certificate:
- You need a Business Certificate based on your business type. You do not need to submit this document with your application, but The Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) may ask for it.
- Sole proprietors using a name other than your own need a Business/Assumed Name Certificate.
- Partnerships need a Partnership Certificate and, if applicable, an Assumed Name Certificate.
- Corporations, limited partnerships, limited liability companies or limited liability partnerships must register and stay active with the New York State Division of Corporations. Check your status at www.dos.ny.gov/corps.

Basic license application:
- Complete the Basic License Application. This form needs business information, identification numbers (like EIN, SSN or ITIN), contact information, history of criminal or civil charges and any DCWP license history.

Roster of ticket sources:
- Complete the Roster of Ticket Sources.

Roster of ticket sellers:
- Complete the Ticket Seller Business - Roster of Ticket Sellers.

Non-NYC resident form:
- If your business address is not in New York City, complete the Ticket Seller Business Non-NYC Resident Form.

Granting Authority to Act Affirmation:
- If someone else will prepare and submit your application, complete the Granting Authority to Act Affirmation. The applicant must sign the application and all related forms.

License fee:
- Pay the license fee based on the date you file your application. Here is a table to help you understand the fees.
Accepted payment methods:
- Pay by check or money order to DCWP (for in-person applications).
- Pay by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover Card) with a nonrefundable 2 percent convenience fee (for in-person or online applications).

Notification by mail: You will get a letter within two weeks after the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) gets all your papers.
- If your application is approved, DCWP will send you a license.
- If your application needs more information, DCWP will send you a letter. You must send the needed information to DCWP within 10 days. If you do not, your application will be denied.
- If your application is denied, DCWP will tell you why. They will also tell you how to reapply.

Inform DCWP of changes: If any information you gave in your approved application changes, you must tell the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP). You can do this by calling 311 or visiting the DCWP Licensing Center. It is a good idea to call 311 to check if you need to visit the center for any specific change. You must schedule an appointment to visit in person. You can only visit the Licensing Center if you have a disability and need to make an in-person visit.
