Ticket Seller Individual License
You need a Ticket Seller license if you sell tickets in a public space. This includes selling, giving or transferring tickets to another person for sale in a public space. The New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) issues this license.
You do not need a Ticket Seller license if you sell tickets for transportation that operates under a contract with the City of New York or an entity authorized by the City.

Complete the Basic Individual License Application.

Provide a photo ID: acceptable forms of ID include:
- Driver's license or a non-driver's license ID from a State Department of Motor Vehicles
- Passport
- Green card
- City, State or federal employee ID card
- Municipal ID card

Submit a current color passport-size photo of yourself: you can be photographed at the DCWP Licensing Center for free or upload a digital passport photo. A digital camera with a resolution of 1 mega-pixel is enough.

Complete the Roster of Ticket Sources.

If you do not live in New York City, complete and submit the Ticket Seller Non-NYC Resident Form.

If you are a veteran or the spouse or partner of a veteran and live in New York State, you can get a fee exemption: submit ONE of these documents:

Proof of honorable discharge from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), such as:
- Original statement of service
- Original DD Form 214, Discharge Papers or Separation Documents
- Member 4 copy of the DD Form 214, Discharge Papers, or Separation Documents

If you are the spouse or partner of a veteran, provide ALL of these documents:
- Proof of marriage or partnership (e.g., original marriage certificate, original certificate of domestic partnership, joint lease, or mortgage documents). Proof is subject to DCWP's review and approval.

If you file your application between these dates:

From August 1 to January 31: $45.00

From February 1 to July 31: $22.50 or *$67.50
*If you are applying within six months of the license expiration date, you can pay the prorated fee for the remaining license term plus the full fee to renew the license for the next term. If you pay both fees, you will not need to renew the license until the end of the next license period.
Exception: if you are a veteran or the spouse or partner of a veteran and live in New York State, you can get a fee exemption.

- Credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover Card only). You will be charged a nonrefundable 2 percent convenience fee. (In-person or online application submissions.)

Notification by mail: You will get a letter about your license within two weeks after the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) gets all needed papers.
- If your application is approved, DCWP will send you a license.
- If your application needs more information, DCWP will send you a letter. You must send the needed information to DCWP within 10 days of getting this letter or your application will be denied.
- If your application is denied, DCWP will explain why and tell you how to apply again.

Inform DCWP of changes: If any information in your approved application changes, you must tell the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP). You can do this by calling 311 or visiting the DCWP Licensing Center. It is a good idea to call 311 to check if you need to visit the center for any specific change. You must schedule an appointment to visit in person. You can only visit the Licensing Center if you have a disability and need to make an in-person visit. Access laws and rules: All laws and rules of New York City, including the Consumer Protection Law and Rules, are available through the Public Access Portal.
- Review the requirements for the license and gather all materials before clicking the Apply Online button: You will be redirected to a new web page where you will need a registered account with the City of New York to submit an online application.
- After submitting an application online, print a copy of the Confirmation Page: The Confirmation Page will list the additional steps and materials required to complete the application. These materials must be submitted within five business days of filing the application online if they were not uploaded as part of the online application submission.
