You need a Class 2 Trade Waste Broker Registration if you help people in New York City find waste services for a fee. This includes businesses that evaluate or analyze waste and suggest cost-efficient ways to get rid of it. The registration lasts for two years.

Fill out the application for Class 2 Trade Waste Broker Registration.
Submit the original and one copy of the completed application and all required documents and fees to the License Unit at the Business Integrity Commission in person or by mail.
All principals must be photographed. Photos can be taken when the application is submitted, or BIC will contact the business to schedule an appointment for each principal to be photographed.
Once the application is reviewed and accepted, the applicant will remain in pending status until the background investigation is complete.
Applicants will be notified by mail when approval is granted.
Upon receiving approval, applicants must call to schedule an appointment at the BIC Licensing Unit to pay the registration fee.
Once the registration fee is paid, a license document will be issued.
