Trade Waste Broker Registration
You need a Class 2 Trade Waste Broker Registration if you help people in New York City find waste services for a fee. This includes businesses that evaluate or analyze waste and suggest cost-efficient ways to get rid of it. The registration lasts for two years.

Complete a Certification form for each principal of the business. This form certifies that all information in the application is complete and accurate. It must be notarized before submission. You can find this form with the Class 2 Trade Waste Broker Registration Application.

Complete a Release Authorization form for each principal of the business. This form allows the Business Integrity Commission to investigate the background of the business and its principals, affiliates, agents and employees to see if the applicant meets the standards of good character, honesty and integrity. It must be signed and notarized by a principal of the company before submission. You can find this form with the Class 2 Trade Waste Broker Registration Application.

Business certificates:
- Sole proprietors: Submit a certified copy of the Certificate of Doing Business filed with the County Clerk where the business is located.
- Partnerships: Submit a copy of the current partnership agreement and Certificate of Partnership, certified by the County Clerk where the business is located.
- Corporations: Submit a copy of the Certificate of Incorporation filed with the Secretary of State.

Tax identification numbers:
- Corporations: Provide the Tax Identification Number(s).
- Partnerships or sole proprietorships: Provide the Social Security numbers for each principal of the business.

If the business is not incorporated in New York State, an Authority to Do Business Certificate issued by the New York Secretary of State is required.

Forfeiture, receivership or independent monitoring documents: Submit documents related to any forfeiture, receivership or independent monitoring such as liens or bankruptcy proceedings.

Submit documents related to any contested City, State or federal tax proceeding.

There is a $5,000 registration fee for a two-year term.
