Veterinarians must have a license to practice in New York State. This license is from the New York State Department of Education (NYSDOE).
Applicants must meet education and experience requirements, and pass an exam. Those who have not yet taken the exam can get a limited permit. This permit allows someone to practice under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian. Veterinarians licensed in other states can get their licenses endorsed in New York.
