Veterinarians need a license to work in New York State. The New York State Education Department (NYSED) gives this license.
To get a license, you must:
- Meet education and experience rules
- Pass a test
If you haven't taken the test yet, you can get a limited permit. This permit lets you work under a licensed veterinarian's watch. If you are licensed in another state, you can get your license approved in New York.
