If your business moves alcoholic drinks in, to or from New York State, you need a permit from the New York State Liquor Authority (SLA). The type of permit you need depends on how you move the alcohol and how long you need the permit.

Ways to transport

Permits can last for one or three years.

Bonds and registrations

Surety bonds: Some companies might be required to provide surety bonds. Contact the SLA or learn more about surety bond registration.

Most businesses will also need the federal Alcohol Dealer Registration. Contact the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau for more information.
