 
              Certificate of Registration for Expeditor (Filing Processor) Employee (R-02)
All employees representing a company who submit, file, request, negotiate or otherwise seek the approval of applications for issuance of permits, or other approvals, including the approval of design and installation documents must have a Certificate of Registration for Expeditor (Filing Processor) Employee (R-02) from the NYC Fire Department (FDNY).
This Certificate of Registration is valid only for the specific person to whom it is issued.
Employees of expeditor companies should review the Application Form and Instructions.
Applicants must apply online and provide the following information:
- Your name, mailing address, telephone number, email address, gender, social security number, date of birth, weight, height, and work location.
- A completed and signed application form.
- A copy of your resume indicating at least five years prior work experience.
- A copy of your employee ID.
- A recent ID photo (2x2 color head shot) in JPG or JPEG format.
- A letter of recommendation from one of the company's principals who holds a R-01 Certificate of Registration; or if the company's principal is exempt, a letter of recommendation on company letterhead.
The NYC Fire Department (FDNY) will send a Renewal Notice 90 days before the expiration date. This letter includes the certificate number, the expiration date, and the amount of the renewal fee. It is the certificate holder’s responsibility to renew the certificate within 364 days of the expiration date. Certificates that are more than one year past their expiration date will not be renewed and a new application will need to be submitted.

To change your mailing address, submit the following in person or by mail to the NYC Fire Department (FDNY), Cashier’s Unit, 9 MetroTech Center, Brooklyn, NY 11201:
- A letter requesting the change of mailing address.
- A copy of your certificate with the old address.
- A personal check or money order in the amount of $5.00 made payable to the "Fire Department City of New York."
To request a replacement certificate, submit the following in person or by mail to the NYC Fire Department (FDNY), Cashier’s Unit, 9 MetroTech Center, Brooklyn, NY 11201:
- A government-issued photo identification (such as a Driver’s License or Passport). The name on the ID must match the name on the certificate.
- Your social security number.
- Your mailing address.
- A personal check or money order in the amount of $5.00 made payable to the "Fire Department City of New York."
If you change employers, submit the following in person or by mail to the NYC Fire Department (FDNY), Cashier's Unit, 9 MetroTech Center, Brooklyn, NY 11201:
- A completed and signed R-02 APPLICATION FORM (PDF).
- A letter of recommendation from one of the company's principals who holds a R-01 Certificate of Registration; or if the company's principal is exempt, a letter of recommendation on company letterhead.
- A copy of your certificate with the old address.
- A personal check or money order in the amount of $210.00 made payable to the "Fire Department City of New York."
Pay the $210 application fee online by one of the following methods:
- Credit card (American Express, Discover, MasterCard, or Visa)
- Debit card (MasterCard or Visa)
- E-Check
A convenience fee of 2.49% will be applied to all credit card payments. The application fee is non-refundable.
Pay the $100 renewal fee online by one of the following methods:
- Credit card (American Express, Discover, MasterCard, or Visa)
- Debit card (MasterCard or Visa)
- E-Check
Renewals submitted 90 days (up to one year) after the expiration date will incur a $25 penalty in addition to the renewal fee. A convenience fee of 2.49% will be applied to all credit card payments. The renewal fee is non-refundable.
