    Demolition Permit from the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB)

      The removal and/or abatement of asbestos containing materials (ACM) from structures must occur in strict compliance with Federal, State, and City regulations. These regulations include the requirement that the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) be formally notified at least seven days before abatement activities take place.

        Measure the street frontage that the building or structure occupies in feet. If the building or structure has frontage on more than one street, measure the longer frontage only.

          Calculate the fee by multiplying the street frontage in feet by the number of stories of the building, then multiplying this number by twenty-five cents ($0.25). The minimum fee amount is $250.

              Fill out the form and submit it with the required fee to the DEP address listed below, under Contact Information.

                Applicants will receive a response from DEP within 10 days after submission.
