Emergency Medical Technician-Critical Care

If you are an EMT with a Basic certification, you can get a Critical Care certification. This certification is from the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH).

Critical care EMTs need advanced life support skills, including:

• Intravenous therapy
• Using a defibrillator
• Airway adjunct placement

You must also have all the skills covered in the Basic certificate.

To get this certification, you must meet educational requirements and pass an exam.
