Emergency Management Technicians (EMTs) with Basic certification can receive a Critical Care certification. This certification is from the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH).
Critical care EMTs must have advanced life support skills. These include intravenous therapy, using a defibrillator, and airway adjunct placement. They must also have all the skills covered in the Basic certificate.
Applicants must meet educational requirements and pass an exam.
