Landscape Architect License

If you want to work as a landscape architect in New York State, you need a license. The New York State Education Department (NYSED) issues this license.
To get the license, you must:
- Be of good moral character
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Meet education requirements
- Meet examination requirements
- Meet experience requirements
The American Society of Landscape Architects gives the LARE. Learn more about the exam here.
If you have a license from another state, you can get a limited permit. This permit is for a specific project that lasts up to three years.
