All bathing beach facilities that are installed, operated, or constructed in the City of New York require a Permit to Operate a Bathing Beach issued by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.<br/><br/>
The permit approval process is comprised of three Parts:
• Part I: Application Review
• Part II: Construction Compliance Inspection
• Part III: Permit Review and Issuance
• Part II: Construction Compliance Inspection
• Part III: Permit Review and Issuance
The permit will be granted when the bathing facility at the beach is designed, constructed and completed in accordance with the New York City Health Code and the New York State Sanitary Code as referenced in the Additional Information section below. Final approval of the permit may include other requirements which DOHMH's Bureau of Public Health Engineering determine are necessary to adequately review and approve the permit.
