To work as a doctor in New York, you need a license from the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
Requirements: You must finish a four-year medical degree with hands-on training.
- If you studied outside the United States, you might need to take a test.
- You must pass a test to get your license.
- If you are waiting to pass the test, you can get a permit to work under a licensed doctor.
Naturopathic doctors are not seen as doctors by state law. They cannot apply for this license without a regular medical degree.
