These rules depend on your building and business type. You can find these requirements in Section 15-02 of Title 3 of the Rules of the City of New York.

Type of fire extinguisher: The type you need depends on what might catch fire in your business.

Buying and upkeep: You can buy fire extinguishers from a store or a company approved by the FDNY. These companies can also refill and take care of your extinguishers. You can find a list of these companies in the Company Approval Report.
