Employers in New York State must pay taxes for unemployment insurance. This insurance gives money to workers who lose their jobs. The job loss must not be their fault. Not all workers can get this insurance.

The New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) decides if a business must pay for unemployment insurance. They also decide if workers can get it.

Employers can use the State Information Data Exchange System (SIDES) to handle claims.
