Commercial and Industrial Energy Efficiency Program
The Con Edison Commercial and Industrial Energy Efficiency (CIEE) Program gives cash rebates and incentives for energy-saving projects. Projects include installing energy-efficient equipment and technology. Only Con Edison gas and electric customers can join.
There are two programs for gas and electric customers:
- Equipment Rebate Program
- Custom Program
Incentives for energy studies are also offered. All projects must be pre-approved by Con Edison. Con Edison will pay the approved amount when the project is done.
Equipment Rebate Program
The Equipment Rebate Program gives cash rebates for installing energy-efficient equipment. Con Edison calculates the rebate amount.
Items eligible for rebates include:
- Lighting and lighting controls
- Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), furnace, boilers and other gas equipment
- Motors
- Variable frequency drives (VFDs)
- Chiller and/or refrigeration system upgrades
- Compressed air system improvements
- Industrial process improvements
- Lighting upgrades
- HVAC systems can get higher incentives.
- VFDs not eligible for standard incentives.
- Lighting upgrades
Incentives for pre-approved studies: 50 percent of the cost of the pre-approved study is eligible for incentives after the study is done.
- Maximum of $67,000 for combined electric and gas study
- Maximum of $50,000 for electric or gas study
Incentive limits:
- Incentives cannot be more than 50 percent of the project cost or 100 percent of the cost of a specific energy-saving measure.
- Labor cost is included.
- Incentives cannot be more than one million for electricity use or $250,000 for gas use.
Custom Programs
Custom Programs give custom incentives for cost-effective projects. They also cover energy-efficient technologies not included in the Equipment Rebate Program.
Energy Efficiency Studies
Energy Efficiency Studies let customers have their energy use checked. Con Edison can suggest steps to save gas and electric energy.
