Dealer Registration - Motor Vehicles, Motorcycles or Trailers, Official Business Certificate

This registration lets a business buy, sell or deal motor vehicles, motorcycles or trailers over 1,000 pounds. Businesses must register with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

If your business sells fewer than five vehicles a year, you do not need a license. This registration does not cover mobile or manufactured homes, emergency vehicles, recreational vehicles or campers.

Dealers must use the Vehicle Electronic Reassignment and Integrated Facility Inventory (VERIFI) system for some basic transactions. Visit VERIFI for more information.
