If you own a building for business, you must register with the Department of Finance. This helps you learn how to pay property taxes.

When you buy a building, you or a title company will record property papers with the Department of Finance. This is done at a Finance Business Center. The papers are kept online using the Automated City Register Information System (ACRIS). ACRIS is for Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens. It is not for Staten Island.

The Department of Finance sends property tax bills to owners every June. The tax year starts on July 1 and ends on June 30. You can pay in two or four installments. You can pay:
