All businesses wishing to operate a small arms firing range in New York City must have a Small Arms Firing Range Permit issued by the New York City Police Department. Small arms firing ranges are places where individuals can shoot rifles and pistols at different types of targets such as trap, skeet, or paper. Small arms firing ranges do not allow the use of .50 caliber or larger ammunition.
